About me
I'm a trainer and consultant with over 20 years' experience in education and facilitation, specialising in supporting practitioners and organisations working with LGBTQ+ parent families within perinatal mental health services. I combine my professional background - including several years as a Senior Education Officer at Stonewall and extensive work alongside the NHS - with my own lived experience as a same-sex parent and someone who has navigated perinatal mental health services firsthand.
“I found the LGBTQ+ perinatal training extremely valuable. The focus on equitable care was clear throughout, and the real-life stories were especially powerful—they really made me stop and think about how our practice can impact families. It was a reminder of how important it is to get things right and to be inclusive in every interaction. Lucy delivered the session in such an engaging and approachable way, which made it easy to connect with the content. We have ensured that all team members have completed this training – highly recommend!”
Victoria Dyson-Lynne, Perinatal and Maternal Mental Health Service Manager.
“I feel so much more confident after this training. I know how I need to adapt as an individual and as a community resource.
Thank you so much.”

"I had received previous training from Lucy and had found it thought provoking, motivating and validating to hear about LGBTQ+ experiences in perinatal mental health care as part of that community. When I changed jobs, I contacted her to ask whether we could shape some training specific to our MBU ward needs. Lucy was incredibly responsive and proactive in meeting with me, discussing our training needs and developing a programme for the day. She also offered various options for learning.

On the day, as the training was in person, Lucy navigated tech difficulties, NHS resources and a large audience group with humour, patience and consideration. The training was fantastic, highly applicable, and the response from the team was really positive and compassionate. She’s also stayed in touch to help us to continue to address how our service can better support the needs of our LGBTQ+ families! If you can, do it!"

"This session is crucial to ensuring effective care for LGBTQA+ people in the perinatal period. The training was thorough and thoughtful and sensitively delivered. Thought provoking and helped me think about my practice - Lucy is an excellent and knowledgeable trainer"

“Possibly the best training I have ever been on. The training was the right length with the right amount of interaction and was really engaging. I really enjoyed that the training has come from personal experience. It almost made it more personal to me after hearing Lucy's story. I feel the case studies are needed to think about our own services and practice as professionals.”
Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust
“It was so inspiring to learn from someone who has actually experienced what they are teaching. I felt able to have an open conversation in a transparent and non-threatening manner. I would definitely recommend this training to not just to MIMHS staff but all staff working in the caring profession.”
